The Doctor Who: The Evil of the Daleks Steelbook Blu-ray is a collector’s edition release of one of the most iconic and long-lost serials from the classic era of the show. Originally broadcast in 1967, this seven-part adventure features the Second Doctor, played by Patrick Troughton, and his companion Jamie (Frazer Hines), as they face off against the Daleks in a gripping tale of manipulation, time travel, and existential threat.
This special edition is presented in a beautifully designed Steelbook case and includes a fully animated reconstruction of the missing episodes, using surviving audio recordings. Only episode two of the original serial still exists in its original form, and it is included here, remastered for high-definition viewing. The animation brings the rest of the story to life in both colour and black-and-white formats, offering fans a choice in how they experience this classic.
The plot follows the Doctor and Jamie as they search for the stolen TARDIS, only to be drawn into a sinister Dalek plot to “humanise” themselves, making them even more dangerous. The story also introduces a new companion, Victoria Waterfield (Deborah Watling), and features the first appearance of the Dalek Emperor.
The three-disc set is packed with extras, including telesnap reconstructions, audio commentaries, a making-of documentary, a photo gallery, and an audiobook version with narration. Released by BBC Studios on September 27, 2021, this Region B Blu-ray is a must-have for fans of classic Doctor Who, offering a rich blend of nostalgia, restoration, and storytelling excellence.
